The problem in this study is that the problem-solving ability of students in the Islamic Religious Education Subject is still relatively low, in analyzing, evaluating and relating religious material with real life. The Problem Based Learning model is designed to encourage students to analyze real problems, thereby improving critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills in daily life. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi Experiment design of the posttest-only control group design. The research sample used the Purposive Sampling technique consisting of 35 students in class X-8 (experimental class) and class X-10 as the control class. The research instrument is in the form of a description test that measures problem-solving ability with indicators of analysis, evaluation, inference, and argument assessment. The hypothesis test analysis technique uses the Independent Sample t-Test with the SPSS application. The results of the study revealed that the problem-solving ability of students taught with the Problem Based Learning model was higher than that of students taught by the lecture method. This can be seen from the highest score of the test results of the problem-solving ability of students taught with the Problem Based Learning model is 44% and the highest score of the test results of the problem-solving ability of students taught by learning the lecture method is 13%, which means that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning learning model which has a positive effect in improving students' problem-solving skills
